The section focuses on step-by-step training exercises. Their purpose is to train the body to perform the individual motions necessary to hit a golf ball properly. These exercises are broken into the following three main categories:
Primary Rotation – Training the shoulders
Secondary Rotation – Training the Straight Left Arm
Tertiary Motion – Learning how to use the right arm to tie Primary and Secondary together
Each category contains a series of exercises that have a specific purpose. The series starts with exercises in the “Vertical World” — i.e., standing erect — and then graduate to the “Inclined World” — i.e., at the inclined address position.
The series of exercises follow this progression:
Motions that don’t require any equipment and can be completed at home.
The same exercises again with a golf club, only to study the same motion with the effects of gravity — i.e., the weight of a golf club.
The same exercises one last time, but with a golf club and a golf ball.
You’ll notice that many of these exercises don’t involve hitting a golf ball and can be done at home.
The three important aspects for effective practicing are:
Adopt a step-wise approach to learning the swing.
Practice the right stuff.
Practice on a regular basis.
